Ich habe diese Frage heute morgen mit dem Präsidenten des Europäischen Rates, Herrn Schröder, besprochen. Ich begrüße den Vorschlag des deutschen Bundeskanzlers, eine Gruppe hoher Vertreter des Europäischen Parlaments, des Rates und der Kommission einzusetzen um bis Ende März eine Einigung zu erzielen. Ich füge hier an, daß ich bereit bin, alle möglichen Varianten zu prüfen, sofern gewährleistet ist, daß die gewählte Struktur ein effizientes Arbeiten ermöglicht und keinen Zweifel an der Unabhängigkeit der Untersuchungen aufkommen läßt.
