Let me tell you that those who deny the validity, 50 years on from the signing of the Treaties of Rome, of the universally recognised and familiar symbols of the EU are – symbolically, adding grist to the mills of those who, questioning European integration as such, wish to turn their backs on it and return to their own identities as nation states.
Permettez-moi de dire que ceux qui nient la validité, 50 ans après la signature des traités de Rome, des symboles universellement reconnus et familiers de l’UE apportent, symboliquement, de l’eau au moulin de ceux qui, remettant en question l’intégration européenne en tant que telle, souhaitent lui tourner le dos et retourner à leurs propres identités d’État-nation.
