The appropriate level and distribution of renewal fees should be determined in order to ensure that, in relation to the unitary patent protection, all costs of the tasks entrusted to the EPO are fully covered by the resources generated by the European patents with unitary effect and that, together with the fees to be paid to the European Patent Organisation during the pre-grant stage, the revenues from the renewal fees ensure a balanced budget of the European Patent Organisation.
Le niveau et la répartition adéquats des taxes annuelles devraient être déterminés de manière à garantir qu’en ce qui concerne la protection unitaire conférée par le brevet, tous les coûts des tâches confiées à l’OEB sont intégralement couverts par les ressources provenant des brevets européens à effet unitaire et que les recettes tirées des taxes annuelles, ensemble avec les taxes à payer à l’Organisation européenne des brevets avant la délivrance, garantissent l’équilibre budgétaire de l’Organisation européenne des brevets.
