The civil and political rights of gays and lesbians will be debated in a completely different context, that being within the context of national and international human rights.

The National Transgender Discrimination Survey, conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality in the United States, both reputable organizations, found that more than half of transgender and gender non-conforming people who were bullied, harassed or assaulted in school because of their gender identity have attempted suicide.
