These petitioners pray that Parliament will ensure that marriage is defined as Canadians wish it to be defined, that is, the legal union between a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, and that Parliament would use section 33 of the charter, the notwithstanding clause, if necessary, to preserve and protect the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
