4. NOTING the standard of scientific research on space in Europe, which has already made it possible to develop many forms of cooperation, particularly at the transatlantic level, RECOGNISES the need to ensure consistency of European research policy, especially by way of international cooperation, and the need to press ahead with space science programmes, in order to gain a better understanding of the universe, the solar system, our planet, its interaction with its surroundings and its climate;
4. NOTANT le niveau de la recherche scientifique en Europe dans le secteur spatial, ayant déjà permis de développer de nombreuses coopérations, en particulier sur le plan transatlantique, RECONNAIT la nécessité d'assurer la cohérence de la politique européenne de recherche, notamment dans le cadre de coopérations internationales et le besoin de poursuivre activement des programmes de sciences spatiales, afin de mieux comprendre l'univers, le système solaire, notre planète, ses interactions avec le milieu qui l'environne et son climat.
