I'm not a technophobe or a technophile or whatever it is, but to the best of my knowledge, if we go back probably as far as fifty years in Europe, when and where the technology wasn't even close to the technology we have today, of course, France decided on a particular standard for the television sets that were going to be sold and used in France.
