Als Sieger der Wahlen gingen die Sozialistische Partei (MSzP) gemeinsam mit der Liberalen Partei (SzDSz) mit 51,3 % der Stimmen – das entspricht 198 Parlamentssitzen – hervor, gegenüber 48,7 % der Stimmen – 188 Sitzen – für die Partei von Viktor Orbán (FIDESz) und seinen Partner, das Ungarische Demokratische Forum (MDF).
The most significant aspect of the current political situation is, without doubt, the holding of elections to the legislature on 7 and 21 April, which resulted in a victory for the Socialist Party (MSzP) in coalition with the Liberals (SzDSz). The coalition gained 51.3 % of the vote, securing 198 seats in Parliament, compared with 48.7 % of the vote or 188 seats for Mr Orban's FIDESz party and its coalition partner, the Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF).
