Auf der Tagung der Justiz- und Innenminister vom 1. und 2. Oktober 2007 einigten sich die Mitgliedstaaten darauf, dass die Justiz modernisiert werden muss und dass sie die elektronischen Mittel nutzen muss, um die Justiz rasch, wirksam, bürger- und unternehmensnah sowie kostengünstiger zu machen. Die elektronische Justiz (E-Justiz) ist Teil des Programms der deutschen, portugiesischen und slowenischen Vorsitze und war eine der Prioritäten des portugiesischen Vorsitzes, der den Prototyp eines Portals „E-Justiz“ entwickelt hat.
At the meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers on 1 and 2 October 2007, the Member States agreed that 'justice has to be modernised through existing electronic tools so as to quickly, efficiently, closely and inexpensively satisfy the needs of citizens and companies'. e-Justice has been included in the programmes of the German, Portuguese and Slovenian Presidencies, and was one of the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency, which developed the prototype e-Justice portal.
