Für die sechs betroffenen neuen Mitgliedstaaten ( Tschechische Republik, Zypern, Ungarn, Malta, Polen und die Slowakei) stellte der Rat am 5. Juli 2004 das Vorliegen eines übermäßigen Defizits fest und empfahl, dieses bis 2005 (Zypern), 2006 (Malta), 2007 (Polen und die Slowakei) bzw. 2008 (Tschechische Republik und Ungarn) abzubauen.
For the six new Member States concerned (the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Hungary, Malta, Poland and Slovakia) , the Council decided on 5 July 2004 that they were in excessive deficit and recommended that this be corrected by 2005 (Cyprus), 2006 (Malta), 2007 (Poland and Slovakia) and 2008 (Czech Republic and Hungary).
