In the course of a visit to Catania arranged by the FAO, Mr Segre Colet, lecturer in anthropology at Hamburg university and Mr François Feral, lecturer in public law at Montpellier university, replying to a journalist from the Sicilia newspaper (on 28 August 2000) on the subject of how, and to what extent, industrial fishing had affected, and continued to affect, the fauna of the Mediterranean, stated that `industrial fishing should completely disappear from the Mediterranean´.
Anlässlich eines von der FAO organisierten Besuchs in Catania gaben auf die Frage eines Journalisten der Zeitung „La Sicilia“ (28. August 2000), welchen Einfluss die industrielle Fischerei auf die Fauna im Mittelmeer habe und gehabt habe, Herr Segre Colet, Professor für Anthropologie an der Universität Hamburg, und Herr Francois Feral, Professor für öffentliches Recht an der Universität Montpellier, folgende Antwort: „Die industrielle Fischerei muss vollkommen aus dem Mittelmeerraum verschwinden“.
