Even now that Community rules have been amended and tightened up, one of the weak points of the whole testing procedure still continues to be the performance of controls on residues: in the case of beef and veal, for example (whether produced within the EU or imported), stringent checks should be carried out on the residual presence of antibiotics and tranquillisers.
