This approach is absolutely vital, because the pressure currently exerted by the increasing openness of the world markets represents a serious threat to the economic, environmental and social viability of the various agricultural models across the world: by forcing farmers to sell their produce for lower and lower prices, it puts them at risk by undermining their income, and is partly responsible for the deteriorating working conditions of agricultural workers and the deterioration of the environment.
Dieser Schritt ist dringend notwendig, denn der gegenwärtig durch die weltweit zunehmende Öffnung der Märkte entstandene Druck bedroht ernstlich die wirtschaftliche, ökologische und soziale Lebensfähigkeit der verschiedenen globalen Landwirtschaftsmodelle. Indem er die Landwirte zwingt, zu immer niedrigeren Preisen zu produzieren, wird ihre Existenz durch die Aushöhlung ihrer Einkommen gefährdet. Darüber hinaus ist er mitverantwortlich für die schlechter werdenden Arbeitsbedingungen der Landarbeiter und den Zustand der Umwelt.
