– Mr President, when I was first elected to this House eleven years ago, it was regarded as somewhat eccentric, verging on embarrassing – particularly even within the EPP I have to say – that I frequently raised the issue of Christian persecution in the Islamic and Communist worlds, which I regret has only got worse since then.
– Herr Präsident, als ich vor elf Jahren das erste Mal in dieses Haus gewählt wurde, wurde es als etwas exzentrisch, fast peinlich – besonders innerhalb der EPP muss ich sagen – angesehen, dass ich häufig das Problem der christlichen Verfolgung in der islamischen und der kommunistischen Welt ansprach, was leider nur noch schlimmer geworden ist seit damals.
