As regards external financial audit, I was instrumental in amending the law on the Romanian Court of Accounts, which enabled significant changes to be made to that institution’s procedures, and in finalising the financial audit manual for the Court of Accounts and the performance audit guide. In the same way, I helped to set up the Romanian Audit Authority at the Court of Accounts, which is the body responsible for the external auditing of Community funding allocated to Romania, and the national contact institution for OLAF (now the Fight Against Fraud Department – DLAF).
