Collect 250 ml of the distillate and add to it 0,1 ml of 0,1 M sodium hydroxide solution (3.2) and two drops of the phenolphthalein solution (3.3). The pink colouration must be stable for at least 10 seconds (i.e. steam to be free of carbon dioxide) (b) Place 20 ml of a 0,1 M acetic acid solution in the flask.
