German citizens residing abroad are eligible to vote in national elections provided they fulfil one of the following conditions: either: i) that they had resided in Germany for an uninterrupted period of at least three months after reaching the age of fourteen years and this period dates back not more than 25 years; or ii) that they have become familiar, personally and directly, with the political situation in Germany and are affected by it[20].
Deutsche Staatsbürger können an Bundestagswahlen teilnehmen, wenn sie entweder nach Vollendung des vierzehnten Lebensjahres für einen ununterbrochenen Zeitraum von mindestens drei Monaten in Deutschland gewohnt haben und dieser Zeitraum nicht länger als 25 Jahre zurückliegt oder wenn sie persönlich und unmittelbar mit der politischen Lage in Deutschland vertraut und von ihr betroffen sind.[20]
