This failure, which stems from deregulation and fierce competition, shows today, with this crisis, that the European Union has been incapable of coordinating the necessary approach that would have made it possible not only to protect those who are trapped in these airports but also to plot the way forward by allowing airlines to make test flights, for example. I call on the European Union, therefore, to pull itself together.
Dieses Versagen, verursacht durch Deregulierungsmaßnahmen und harten Konkurrenzkampf, zeigt uns mit der heutigen Krise, dass die Europäische Union unfähig war, ein Konzept zu koordinieren, das es nicht nur ermöglicht hätte, jene zu schützen, die auf den Flughäfen festsitzen, sondern auch, eine Lösung zu finden, indem man den Fluglinien z. B. Testflüge gestattet hätte. Ich appelliere daher an die Europäische Union, sich anzustrengen.
