I realise that Ethiopia, all valid criticism notwithstanding, has made more progress towards what we call democracy than its rival in East Africa, but I cannot help but wonder why the authors of this resolution have not called for talks to be held with the descendants of the dynasty that previously ruled the country, and for the restitution of the property of this dynasty and of the old hereditary aristocracy.
Ich verstehe ja, dass Äthiopien ungeachtet all der berechtigten Kritik größere Fortschritte auf dem Weg zu dem, was wir Demokratie nennen, gemacht hat als sein Rivale in Ostafrika. Allerdings kann ich mich nur wundern, weshalb die Verfasser dieser Entschließung nicht gleich dazu aufgerufen haben, Gespräche mit den Nachkommen der Dynastie zu führen, die früher das Land regierte, und dieser Dynastie und der alten Erbaristokratie wieder ihre Besitztümer zurückzugeben.
