Andere Einrichtungen wie die Vertretungen der so genannten Zivilgesellschaft sind sehr wichtig, und jeder Politiker, der weiterhin die Unterstützung der Bevölkerung sucht, wird ihre Anliegen sehr wohl berücksichtigen und dem, was diese gesellschaftlichen Gruppierungen sagen, weitestgehend Rechnung tragen. Es liegt jedoch auf der Hand, das wir die Demokratie und die politische Legitimität der demokratisch gewählten Volksvertreter nicht durch diese Einrichtungen ersetzen können, so wichtig sie auch sein mögen, denn es handelt sich hier um vollkommen unterschiedliche Dinge, die man nicht durcheinander bringen darf.
