Over the years, mainly due to the non-existence of a legal basis for the non-regulated area, a separation from this principle has developed and it has created, in some cases, a dichotomy in the activities of the relevant bodies despite the fact that most of them (accreditation bodies, conformity assessment bodies) are active in both the regulated and the non-regulated area in their respective domains.
