In einigen Mitgliedstaaten werden polychlorierte Terphenyle (PCT) in Form einer thermoplastischen Masse zum Halten von Metallen und anderen Werkstoffen bei der Präzisionsbearbeitung und Formung verwendet. Sie finden vor allem bei der Herstellung oder Wartung von Bauteilen für Gasturbinen, aber unter anderem auch von Kernreaktoren, Schiffs- und Flugzeugrümpfen, Halbleitergeräten und Hochpräzisionslinsen Verwendung.
