Finally, we must call on those attending the Kivu Conference to produce a set of specific results demanding justice and acceptance of responsibility, because if, after all that has happened, rapists finally enjoy impunity wearing the uniforms of the official army of the Republic of the Congo, the victims will be humiliated twice – first during the rape itself, and again when they see it was carried out with impunity.
Und schließlich gilt es, die Teilnehmer der Konferenz über Kivu zu konkreten Ergebnissen aufzurufen und zu fordern, dass Gerechtigkeit geübt und Verantwortung übernommen wird, denn wenn nach allem, was geschehen ist, die Vergewaltiger, die die Uniform der offiziellen Armee der Republik Kongo tragen, schließlich straffrei ausgehen, werden die Opfer zweimal gedemütigt – zuerst durch die Vergewaltigung selbst und nochmals, wenn sie sehen, dass diese Tat ohne strafrechtliche Folgen bleibt.
