Such plans notably cover the “cash” changeover, e.g. whether euro banknotes and coins should be introduced on the same day as the adoption of the euro (the so-called “big-bang scenario” ), the period of dual circulation (during which both euro and legacy cash are legal tender), the protection of consumers (dual display of prices and amounts, price monitoring, ...), the selection of the designs of the national sides of the euro coins and the timely supply of the necessary quantities of euro banknotes and coins, etc..
Diese Pläne konzentrieren sich in erster Linie auf die Bargeldumstellung, und somit auf die Frage, ob die Euro-Banknoten und –Münzen am Tag der Euroumstellung mit einem Schritt eingeführt werden sollten (so genanntes „Big Bang-Szenario“ ), die Parallelumlaufphase (während der sowohl der Euro als auch die alten Banknoten und Münzen gesetzliches Zahlungsmittel sind), den Schutz der Verbraucher (doppelte Angabe der Geldbeträge und Preise, Überwachung der Preisentwicklung, ...), die Wahl des Münzbildes der nationalen Seiten der Euro-Münzen, die rechtzeitige Lieferung der notwendigen Mengen an Euro-Banknoten und -Münzen usw.
