We would mention, by way of example, the funding granted to islands entitled to it under the Cohesion Fund, the more flexible competition rules applying to island regions and the Union programmes which, although not key programmes for island regions as such, have, nonetheless, proved to be positive for emerging sectors such as the promotion of renewable energy, programmes relating to the information society, telemedicine projects, the LIFE programme and programmes in the field of employment – giving a greater local dimension.
Als Beispiele seien genannt: die Fördermittel für Inseln, die darauf im Rahmen des Kohäsionsfonds Anspruch haben, die für Inselregionen geltenden flexibleren Wettbewerbsregeln und die Unionsprogramme, die zwar keine Schlüsselprogramme für Inseln als solche sind, sich aber durch die Verstärkung der lokalen Dimension positiv auf die Entwicklung aufstrebender Sektoren, wie z. B. die Förderung erneuerbarer Energien, Programme zur Informationsgesellschaft, Projekte zur Telemedizin, das Programm LIFE und Programme im Bereich Beschäftigung, ausgewirkt haben.
