In the area of expenditure, the Council stresses the need, in particular: - to improve the management and control of the CMO in fruit and vegetables, and requests an assessment
of the intervention system in this CMO once the reform has been fully applied; - for the Structural Funds, to reduce the concentration of payments at the end of the budgetary year by improving coordination between the Commission and the Member States; - in the field of regional policy, to take every step to ensure that the proper procedure is followed in respect of public works contracts, and to apply stringently environmental legislation in all action financed
