The Decision relates to two scientific projects currently running in the context of agricultural statistics. The two programmes are MARS (monitoring agriculture with remote sensing), which allows meteorological data from satellite pictures to be used to analyse and forecast the harvesting of the main crops grown in Europe, and LUCAS (land use cover area frame statistical survey), which makes statistical studies based on visual observation of sampling points.
Es geht dabei um zwei derzeit im Rahmen der Agrarstatistik durchgeführte wissenschaftliche Vorhaben: das Programm "MARS" (monitoring agriculture with remote sensing), das die Verwendung von meteorologischen Daten und Satellitenbildern für die Analyse, die Beobachtung und die Vorausschätzung der Erträge der Hauptkulturen Europas ermöglicht, sowie das Programm "LUCAS" (land use cover area frame statistical survey), in dessen Rahmen statistische Erhebungen auf der Grundlage einer visuellen Beobachtung von Stichprobeneinheiten durchgeführt werden sollen.
