On 14 January 1962, after 140 hours of negotiations (the first European agricultural marathon), the Council of Ministers of the Six took the decision to proceed to the second stage of the transition period, to establish common agricultural market organisations for each product, to apply specific competition rules and to create a European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF).
14. Januar 1962 Der Ministerrat der Sechs kommt nach 140 Stunden Verhandlung (dem ersten europäischen Agrarmarathon) zu der Entscheidung, die zweite Phase des Übergangszeitraums einzuleiten. Damit werden für jedes Erzeugnis eine gemeinsame Marktorganisation etabliert, spezifische Wettbewerbsregeln in Kraft gesetzt und der Europäische Ausrichtungs- und Garantiefonds für die Landwirtschaft (EAGFL) geschaffen.
