- Fisheries and marine resources. The programme will focus on strengthening fisheries and marine management and governance, particularly transboundary issues and environmental measures that enhance the sustainability use of fisheries and marine resources, as well as protection of coral reefs and coastal zone management.

(2) The CCAMLR Convention provides a suitable framework for regional cooperation in the conservation and management of marine living resources through, inter alia, the setting up of a Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, hereafter referred to as "CCAMLR" and the adoption of proposals for conservation and enforcement measures for the marine living resources of the CCAMLR Convention Area, which become binding upon Contracting Parties;

1. This Convention applies to the Antarctic marine living resources of the area south of 60º South latitude and to the Antarctic marine living resources of the area between that latitude and the Antarctic Convergence which form part of the Antarctic marine ecosystem.
