In particular, the project “hereditary deafness” co-ordinated by Prof. Christine Petit (Pasteur Institute, Paris, France) allowed substantial progress in the understanding of the hearing process and in the identification of the genetic determinants of deafness.

Insbesondere das von Prof. Christine Petit vom Pariser Institut Pasteur koordinierte Projekt zur erblichen Gehörlosigkeit hat erhebliche Fortschritte beim Verständnis des Hörvorgangs und bei der Ermittlung genetischer Ursachen von Gehörlosigkeit ermöglicht.


In order to make some progress in this area, we plan to organise a round table on 21 October in association with the Royal National Institute for Deaf People and the Royal National Institute for the Blind in the United Kingdom and to invite the Member States to attend and to report on the situation at national level.

Um in dieser Richtung Fortschritte zu erzielen, haben wir gemeinsam mit dem Royal National Institute for the Deaf People und dem Royal National Institute for the Blind des Vereinigten Königreichs die Absicht, am 21. Oktober ein Rundtischgespräch zu veranstalten und dort die Mitgliedstaaten aufzufordern, jeweils über die Lage in ihrem Land zu berichten.
