I think, however, that the report goes too far and is somewhat unrealistic in some of the products it suggests prohibiting and, with regard to the use of tax-gathering mechanisms, imposing taxes as a deterrent, I have the greatest reservations about the logic of Community taxation that, as we know, is removed from the sphere of the European Union’s competences and powers.
Doch meiner Meinung nach geht der Bericht zu weit und ist mit der Forderung nach Verbot bei einigen Produkten unrealistisch. In Bezug auf die Anwendung von Besteuerungsmechanismen durch abschreckende Abgaben habe ich größte Bedenken, was den Mechanismus der gemeinschaftlichen Besteuerung betrifft, die bekanntlich aus dem Zuständigkeits- und Befugnisbereich der Europäischen Union herausgenommen wurde.
