As noted by Staffan Nilsson, EESC President, the structure and operational mode of the Committee are, in themselves, a form of civic participation, and as stated in the Compendium entitled "Participatory Democracy: A retrospective overview of the story written by the EESC", presented at the meeting, the EESC has become over the last fifteen years, a place where important innovations and experiments in stable forms of structured civil dialogue have taken place, with a view to constructing a "house of organised civil society ".
Wie EWSA-Präsident Staffan Nilsson bemerkte, sind Struktur und Funktionsweise des Ausschusses an sich schon eine Form von Bürgerbeteiligung. Und auch das Kompendium "Partizipative Demokratie: Was der EWSA bisher erreicht hat - ein Rückblick", das in der Sitzung vorgestellt wurde, macht deutlich, dass sich der EWSA in den vergangenen fünfzehn Jahren in stabilen Formen des strukturierten zivilen Dialogs zu einem Schauplatz bedeutender Innovationen und Experimente gewandelt hat - immer mit dem Ziel vor Augen, ein "Haus der organisierten Zivilgesellschaft" zu schaffen.
