d the last primeval forest in Europe; urges the Commission to continue to work with the Polish authorities on alternative routes
for the Via Baltica road network and rail network as recommended by the report of the Committee on Petitions; also encourages the Commission to ensure that funding is made available to alleviate the p
ressure on the road system ...[+++] in Augustow in such a way as to protect the local population and preserve the environment of the area;
27. nimmt Kenntnis vom Bericht über die Informationsreise nach Polen, in dem Empfehlungen zum Schutz des Rospuda-Tals und des letzten Urwaldes in Europa ausgesprochen wurden; fordert die Kommission nachdrücklich auf, weiterhin mit den polnischen Behörden an alternativen Trassenführungen für die Via Baltica und das Eisenbahnnetz entsprechend der Empfehlung des Ausschussberichts zu arbeiten; ermutigt die Kommission ferner dafür zu sorgen, dass Mittel bereitgestellt werden, um die Belastung des Straßensystems in Augustow so zu verringern, dass die örtliche Bevölkerung geschützt und die Umwelt des Gebiets erhalten wird;
