– (DE) Mr President, Commissioner, our committee has put down this oral question because our members, the public and the staff of the European Info-Points have learned that the Commission wrote to the Info-Points in September 2003, informing them that, with effect from 1 January 2004, the beginning of the election year, financial support for these information agencies, which are of such great importance to the public, was to be curtailed.
– Herr Präsident, Herr Kommissar! Unser Ausschuss hat diese mündliche Anfrage eingereicht, weil unsere Abgeordneten, die Bürger und die Verantwortlichen der europäischen Infopoints erfahren haben, dass die Kommission den Infopoints mit Schreiben vom September 2003 mitgeteilt hat, dass ab 1. Januar 2004, dem Beginn des Wahljahres, die finanzielle Unterstützung dieser für die Öffentlichkeit so wichtigen Informationsorgane eingestellt werden soll.
