Further to the requests from six Pacific States (the Cook Islands, the Republic of Nauru, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of Marshall Islands, Niue and the Federated States of Micronesia) to become party to successor arrangements to the Lomé Convention, the Council decided to contact New Zealand as well as the governments of the Cook Islands and Niue in order to clarify from a legal point of view whether these two countries have the necessary legal capacity to become a contracting parties in the successor arrangements with the ACP States.
Nachdem sechs Pazifik-Staaten (die Cookinseln, die Republik Nauru, die Republik Palau, die Republik Marschallinseln, Niue und die Föderierten Staaten von Mikronesien) beantragt haben, Vertragspartei der Nachfolgebestimmungen zum Lomé-Abkommen zu werden, beschloß der Rat, sich an Neuseeland sowie an die Regierungen der Cookinseln und Niues zu wenden, um aus juristischer Sicht die Frage zu klären, ob die beiden letztgenannten Länder über die Rechtsfähigkeit verfügen, Vertragspartei der mit den AKP-Staaten vereinbarten Nachfolgebestimmungen zu werden.
