Over the past thirty years the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have taken primarily a supply-oriented approach in the developing countries, with loans, support for direct investment and debt remission for poor countries in which reform is needed, subject to concomitant restrictive monetary, fiscal and wage policies that were designed to reduce inflation and current account deficits.
Der Internationale Währungsfonds und die Weltbank haben in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten über Darlehensvergabe, Unterstützung von Direktinvestitionen und Schuldenerlass für arme, reformbedürftige Länder einen vorwiegend angebotsorientierten Kurs in die Entwicklungsländer gebracht und eine entsprechende restriktive Geld-, Fiskal- und Lohnpolitik vorgeschrieben, durch die Inflation und Leistungsbilanzdefizite zurückgeführt werden sollten.
