urces should not be wasted owing to the need to duplicate tests because of differences in laboratory practices from one Member State to another; whereas this applies especially for animal protection which requires that the number of experiments on animals be restricted in accordance with Council Directive 86/609/EEC of 24 November 1986 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States regarding the protection of animals

Es ist wünschenswert, daß bei der Durchführung der Prüfungen von Chemikalien Mittel für Fachkräfte und Prüfeinrichtungen nicht dadurch verschwendet werden, daß infolge von Unterschieden der Laborpraxis in den einzelnen Mitgliedstaaten Versuche wiederholt werden müssen. Dies gilt insbesondere für den Tierschutz, der es erfordert, daß die Zahl der Tierversuche entsprechend der Richtlinie 86/609/EWG des Rates vom 24. November 1986 zur Annäherung der Rechts- und Verwaltungsvorschriften der Mitgliedstaaten zum Schutz der für Versuche und andere wissenschaftliche Zwecke verwendeten Tiere (5) eingeschränkt wird.
