Stresses that agriculture in poor developing countries is directly and strongly affected by climate change, which can have dramatic consequences on food security; therefore calls on the Commission to use the GCCA to develop agricultural policies and production methods which better meet the needs of local population and constitute a long-term solution to the soaring food prices; encourages in particular the Commission to support innovative solutions such as creating "green belts" around cities to respond to the basic food needs of urban populations in developing countries;
