Spezifische klinische Daten, u. a. Daten über das Langzeitverhalten, liegen für künstliche Hüft-, Knie- und Schultergelenke nicht immer vor, ehe sie in Verkehr gebracht und in Betrieb genommen werden. Die klinischen Daten, die der Hersteller im Zuge des Konformitätsbewertungsverfahrens erfasst hat und aufgrund deren er festgestellt hat, dass sein Produkt in Auslegung, Herstellung und Leistung den Anforderungen von Anhang I Nummern 1 und 3 der Richtlinie 93/42/EWG entspricht, sollten sorgfältig auf ihre Aussagekraft geprüft werden.
