Is the Commission aware that the French traffic police are stopping and imposing fines of Ptas 25 000 on Spanish motorists driving in France who have not exchanged their Spanish licence plates for the new European model which was adopted several months ago in Spain? The reason given for the fine is a failure to display the new European licence plate, and has nothing to do with whether or not the vehicle displays the letter denoting its country of origin, which is compulsory under the Vienna Convention.
Ist der Kommission bekannt, dass spanische Autofahrer, die ihr spanisches Kennzeichenschild nicht durch das neue europäische Modell ersetzt haben, das vor einigen Monaten in Spanien eingeführt wurde, in Frankreich von der französischen Verkehrspolizei gestoppt und mit einer Geldstrafe (in Höhe von 25.000 Peseten) belegt werden, wobei der Grund für die Geldstrafe das Nichtführen des neuen Eurokennzeichens ist und nichts damit zu tun hat, ob am Fahrzeug der Länderbuchstabe, der nach dem Wiener Übereinkommen obligatorisch ist, angebracht ist oder nicht?
