Commission Vice President in charge of competition policy Joaquín Almunia commented: "If the State sells a public asset below its real value, it gives an undue advantage to the buyer who gets taxpayers' property for less than what it is worth. This distorts competition, because other companies, that buy property on the market, will be charged much higher prices".
EU-Wettbewerbskommissar und Kommissionsvizepräsident Joaquín Almunia erklärte dazu: „Wenn die öffentliche Hand ein Gemeingut unter Wert verkauft, erwächst dem Käufer ein ungerechtfertigter Vorteil, da er das Eigentum des Steuerzahlers für weniger erwirbt, als es wirklich wert ist. Das verzerrt den Wettbewerb, denn andere Firmen müssen auf dem Markt weitaus höhere Preise für Immobilien zahlen.“
