Nowadays, however, discussion of city planning issues has moved beyond purely morphological and functionalist questions and, consequently, beyond key players: the public administration, residents and the real estate investors. As a matter of fact, the position of these players has been challenged by the emergence of the user, the consumer of cultural products, the citizen, the stakeholder, the supplier, the urban manager and the tourist.
Heute lässt sich allerdings ein neuer thematischer Entwicklungsansatz in der Städteplanung beobachten, der über rein morphologische und funktionalistische Fragestellungen und über die Schlüsselakteure der Stadtorganisation - öffentliche Verwaltungen, Einwohner oder Immobilieninvestoren - hinausweist. In der Tat wird die Position dieser Konfiguranten durch das Auftreten von Nutzern, Kultur-Konsumenten, Bürgern, Wirtschaftsteilnehmern, Lieferanten, Stadtmanagern und Touristen in Frage gestellt.
