The stability and association process remains the basic element in the Union's policy in the countries of the Balkans and, in our efforts to support this policy, stock was recently taken in Croatia of what has been achieved under the stability pact, the main objective being to coordinate actions under the pact in order to complement the stability and association process. Democratisation, reconciliation and regional cooperation, on the one hand, and the rapprochement of each of these countries with the Union, on the other hand, constitute a single entity.
Der Stabilisierungs- und Assoziierungsprozess bildet nach wie vor ein grundlegendes Ziel der Politik der Union in den Balkanländern, und in unserem Bemühen, diese Politik zu unterstützen, wurde kürzlich in Kroatien eine Bewertung dessen vorgenommen, was im Rahmen des Stabilitätspakts erreicht worden ist, wobei das Hauptziel darin bestand, die gemäß dem Pakt ergriffenen Maßnahmen zu koordinieren, um den Stabilisierungs- und Assoziierungsprozess zu vervollkommnen. Demokratisierung, Aussöhnung und regionale Zusammenarbeit auf der einen und Annäherung jedes dieser Länder an die Union auf der anderen Seite stellen eine Einheit dar.
