It went on to say, from a US point of view: "when it comes to putting the consumer at the center of its economic model, Europe remains stubbornly old-fashioned". E-commerce, of all types, still lags behind in Europe.
– (EN) Herr Präsident, ich bin heute auf einen Artikel im Wall Street Journal gestoßen, dessen Untertitel lautete: „Warum messen die Amerikaner und die Europäer der Bedeutung der Verbraucherinteressen so unterschiedliche Bedeutung bei?“ Weiter hieß es darin aus Sicht der USA: „Wenn es darum geht, den Verbraucher ins Zentrum seines Wirtschaftsmodells zu stellen, verhält sich Europa nach wie vor altmodisch.“ Der elektronische Geschäftsverkehr in Europa hinkt noch immer in allen Belangen zurück.
