20. Calls on the Commission to raise the issue of the need to dedicate a major part of the EU-US development aid budget to agricultural research and training and exchange of best practice for farmers, in order to further develop efficient, sustainable crop systems, such as crop rotation and mixed cultivation of crops, and participatory, locally adapted, non-GMO plant and animal breeding in order to create stability in local food supply and sound farming systems with low energy input in the long term;
20. fordert die Kommission auf, darauf hinzuweisen, dass es notwendig ist, einen bedeutenden Teil des Entwicklungshilfeetats der EU und der Vereinigten Staaten für die landwirtschaftliche Forschung und Ausbildung und den Austausch bewährter Verfahren für Landwirte vorzusehen, um effiziente und nachhaltige Anbausysteme, z.B. Fruchtwechsel und Mischkulturen, und eine partizipative, sich an dem Bedarf vor Ort orientierende Pflanzen- und Tierzucht ohne Einsatz von GMO weiter zu entwickeln, um für Stabilität in der lokalen Lebensmittelversorgung und solide Bewirtschaftungssysteme mit langfristig niedrigem Energieeinsatz zu sorgen;
