Notes that the Commission is concerned about the distribution of traffic flows in Europe, and points to the diversity of the ports sector and the increase in small and medium-sized ports in Europe; considers also that the Commission should take account of the major changes expected in international maritime traffic as a result of technological and economic progress, the widening of the Panama Canal and the increase in the size and capacity of vessels, which will undoubtedly have a substantial impact on the sector;
12. nimmt zur Kenntnis, dass die Kommission über die Verteilung der Verkehrsströme in Europa beunruhigt ist, und weist auf die Vielfalt des Hafensektors und das Wachstum der kleinen und mittleren Häfen in Europa hin; vertritt des Weiteren die Ansicht, dass die Kommission die bedeutenden Veränderungen im internationalen Seeverkehr berücksichtigen muss, die infolge des technologischen und wirtschaftlichen Fortschritts sowie infolge der Erweiterung des Panamakanals und der Zunahme der Schiffsgrößen und -kapazitäten zu erwarten sind und zweifellos bedeutende Auswirkungen auf den Sektor haben werden;
