The ESF should support the policies of Member States which are closely in line with the guidelines and recommendations under the European Employment Strategy and the relevant objectives of the Community in relation to social inclusion, non-discrimination, the promotion of equality, and education and training, in order to better contribute to the implementation of the objectives and targets agreed at the Lisbon European Council of 23 and 24 March 2000 and at the Goteborg European Council of 15 and 16 June 2001.
Der ESF sollte die Politik der Mitgliedstaaten unterstützen, soweit sie mit den Leitlinien und Empfehlungen im Rahmen der Europäischen Beschäftigungsstrategie und mit den relevanten Zielsetzungen der Gemeinschaft im Bereich der sozialen Eingliederung, der Nichtdiskriminierung, der Förderung der Gleichstellung und der allgemeinen und beruflichen Bildung übereinstimmt, um stärker zur Umsetzung der Ziele und Vorgaben, auf die sich der Europäische Rat vom 23. und 24. März 2000 in Lissabon und der Europäische Rat vom 15. und 16. Juni 2001 in Göteborg geeinigt haben, beizutragen.
