The main conclusions of the panel were that new technologies, in particular thanks to the miniaturisation and the increasing capacity of ITS, are going to provide European society, in the very short term, with some amazing opportunities, like direct, permanent (and automatic) communications between private cars and centralised databases with real-time information about weather conditions for the area the car is passing by, the destination point, traffic incidents ahead, entertainment, air or train traffic, etc.
Als Hauptschlussfolgerung hielt die Arbeitsgruppe fest, dass sich der europäischen Gesellschaft dank neuer Technologien und insbesondere aufgrund der Miniaturisierung und der wachsenden Fähigkeiten der ITS schon sehr bald erstaunliche Möglichkeiten eröffnen werden, wie zum Beispiel direkte, ständige (und automatische) Kommunikation zwischen Autos und zentralen Datenbanken mit Echtzeitinformation über das Wetter in dem Gebiet, durch das das Auto gerade fährt, sowie am Zielort, über Verkehrsunfälle auf der Strecke, über Unterhaltungsmöglichkeiten, Flug- oder Zugverbindungen usw.
