Since 1986, Tunisia has been engaged in a programme of economic reform which has generated largely satisfactory results (1994 figures), boosting economic activity (real GDP growth of 3.4%), reducing the budget deficit (2.6% of GDP) and the current account deficit (3.2% of GDP), curbing inflation (4.7%), stimulating external trade (exports account for 40% of GDP) and reducing the external debt ratios (debt servicing absorbs 18.5% of current revenue).
Seit 1986 führt Tunesien ein Wirtschaftsreformprogramm durch, das die folgenden positiven Auswirkungen hatte (Zahlen von 1994): Belebung der Wirtschaft (reales Wachstum des BIP: 3,4 %), Verringerung des Haushaltsdefizits (2,6 % des BIP) und des Leistungsbilanzdefizits (3,2 % des BIP), Eindämmung der Inflation (4,7 %), Stärkung des Exportsektors (Ausfuhren im Wert von 40 % des BIP) und Rückgang der Auslandsverschuldung (Schuldendienst von 18,5 % der Staatseinnahmen).
