It is true that the Court of Auditors does not get a good press in this House since the President refused it a press conference room, even though he happily gives one to the most eccentric associations, to individuals whose representative nature is highly dubious, or to any old watchdog in favour of the philosophy of the Single Europe on condition that he barks loud enough. In this matter, as in many others, Parliament has made itself look foolish.
Allerdings hat der Rechnungshof in diesem Parlament keine gute Presse, da ihm die Präsidentin einen Pressekonferenzsaal verweigert hat, obwohl ein solcher Saal in anderen Fällen bereitwillig höchst sonderbaren Verbänden, Persönlichkeiten mit äußerst zweifelhaftem Vertretungsanspruch oder jedem beliebigen Wachhund des Einheitsdenkens – wenn er nur laut genug bellt zur Verfügung gestellt wird. In dieser Angelegenheit hat sich das Parlament, wie schon so oft, nicht gerade mit Ruhm bekleckert.
